  1. Difference in music taste a little this time Tim.

VERY excited to hear Santana is given residency at Hard Rock, being one of the performers I have been sad to miss out on due to timings of trips in the past.

Have not made it to Hard Rock yet, but this will certainly pull me in for one night at least.

  2. Thanks for ignoring my other calls, Tim.

I tried to have a few before calling to put me in story telling mode. This Sailor Jerry’s stuff is nothing to mess with kids.

About Rickles show and people leaving– the Orleans obviously comped quite a few patrons attending, and they had no idea what he was about. His act is ruthless and hilarious– far more over the top then the recent HBO special would indicate.

Local talk radio, which I like to listen to in the mornings while I’m in Vegas, discussed how he has a serious of gigs lined up over the next year. I’d encourage anyone who wants a taste of old vegas, and the chance to see an absolute pro, to check him out. The Sinatra opener did about six songs, all the major major hits, and it worked. Don does about a 20 minute opener of scripted material, then 60 minutes with the audience, and about 15 minutes of scripted tribute to Francis and himself.

As a vegas fanatic, I will remember that night forever. He’s a legend, and in my opinion a true original in comedy.

  3. I have seen Santana play several times and his band was outstanding, but $80 and up is alot and he is getting up there so I have to side with Tim on this one.//
Troy thnx for the Sopranos show review -now i know to avoid it and Danny Gans.

  4. $140 – maybe you guys can get some cheap/comped rooms and do Vegas on a budget – you could call it research for the podcast.

I would love to hear the Deuce recording and it would fit in with the budget theme. I can still remember the incessant “Ride the Deuce” audio blaring out over and over, but it still makes me smile.

You meet some interesting characters on the Deuce.

  5. Sweet retro Twins logo on your twitter account Tim. I haven’t seen that one since moving from SD years and years ago.

  6. In response to rickyd from jersey…

Red Sushi in the Golden Nugget is excellent. The head chef there used to work in the sushi restaurant located at the Rio, but Red Sushi stole him away about a year ago, b/c he is that good.

Also heard good things about Yellowtail at Bellagio, but have never tried.

  7. Speaking of rounding up, our local casino rounds up all tickets with pennies. When you put in a penny ticket you ger a nickle a 400% profit. I find myself hanging around the 2 cent slots that spit out pennies when you put an odd numbered ticket in and the player discards the penny, not realizing the profit to be made.

I ned up with a lot of nickles by the end of the night.

Usually in Vegas a cash pay rounds to the nearest quarter but I had a cash pay at the MGM that was paid to the penny.

  8. When I heard about Santana, I actually thought that I wouldn’t mind giving his show a shot. He’s got some good classic songs, along with his fairly current ones…but then you mentioned the ticket prices. Ouch!

I actually really, really want to see Don Rickles, but the times have never matched up when I’m in Vegas. I’m hoping some day it will work out.

  9. Are they taking a recording break this week? or did the “Curse of the Low Airfares” catch up with our gambling duo?
