Norm Clarke reports that Imperial Palace will be replacing Tequila Joe’s with a new bar from Jeff Beacher, the star of Beacher’s Madhouse at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. Beacher’s Rockhouse will open in approximately three months.

The Hard Rock issued a rather brief statement yesterday that the property may be changing hands. No details on who the potential buyer is.

The Las Vegas Review Journal carries an article today about the decreasing number of low-priced rooms on the Las Vegas Strip. Our friends at Vegas Tripping featured a thorough analysis of this problem weeks ago.

    Drama at Harrah’s

Harrah’s was the scene of a tense stand-off this morning, and it wasn’t the result of customers upset over the Caesars Connection Card transition to the Total Reward Card. Read about the drama on KLAS-TV’s site or the AP story via the Las Vegas Review Journal.

    Bourbon Street Falls Tonight?

The Las Vegas Advisor is reporting that Bourbon Street is being imploded tonight at 2 a.m. Not much advance notice from owner Harrahs, but I’m sure we’ll all be seeing video on the news and all over the Web tomorrow.

Update: The Bourbon Street implosion blurb has disappeared from the LVA site, so maybe it’s not happening tonight after all.

You know how I know you have a gambling problem? Because you’d wager on how long the new show at the Stardust will run. By the way, I’m setting the line at two weeks.

    Welcome Boston Globe Readers

Much to our surprise, Five Hundy by Midnight was mentioned in a travel column in Sunday’s Boston Globe. Welcome to our new listeners. We’ll be recording a new show as soon as we both recover from the nasty cold/flu thing that has taken up residence here.
