  1. ….Surveys?…….Surveys???…….we don’t need no stinkin’ surveys!!!! 🙂

Just kidding….drop the book reviews, dude. Who do you think you are, Oprah?!? 🙂

Peace, out…..goin’ to get by cat spayed……

  2. By the way I love the question if I would trust FHBM on things like Finance and Insurance. Imagine that, “New York Life…its pays 2-1”

  3. I took the survey, but you should know that you lost credibility for music and entertainment when you admitted to going to a Nelson concert. You didn’t lose all credibility, but only because you weren’t so excitied to se Nelson that you forgot who the opening act was.

  4. The $10,000 rule is still in effect…

At $10k, the bank files a CTR (currency transaction report).

The funny thing is that if you ask about the CTR or imply that you have structured your transaction to avoid a CTR (i.e. $9,999), then they also have to fie a S-CTR (suspicious CTR).

    I love America.

  5. Oh, I liked the opening too. Chevy Chase’s acting ranges from Clark W. Griswold all the way to Fletch. I can’t believe the Academy hasn’t recognized his importance with a lifetime achievement award.

    …and who could forget Caddyshack

I don’t understand the term ‘shoe ending’ and I’m afraid to Google it. Does that have something to do with all the talk of strip bars and shopping?

  6. Re: “Las Vegas Little Black Book”: David deMontmollin , the co-author, is the same David who created the ultra-lounge in his condo at the Jockey Club on the TV series “American Casino”. A previous FHBM even featured Tim as David in one of your “Las Vegas Re-enactment Theatre” bits.
That explains the cheese factor of chapter one and the self-promotion within the book, eh?

  7. not specifically vegas, but a great stripper book is “strip city” by lily burana — former stripper, wonderful writer

  8. Hey Drambuie Man…your auto museum tickets are at the condo sales deck in front of the Imperial Palace! Mention my name; they’ll take your picture by Michael Bolten’s 1974 AMC Gremlin…lime green, of course.

  9. Hey Tim and Michelle,

You asked if anybody has any books on Las Vegas, well I just finished reading one I’m sure nobody else will mention. It’s “Resort City in the Sunbelt: Las Vegas, 1930-2000”. It’s by Dr. Eugene Moehring, a professor of History at UNLV. It’s a fairly dry academic text, but it’s well written. Want to learn why The Strip isn’t part of Las Vegas? You’ll find out in detail the political machinations that prevented Las Vegas from annexing it. It’s a pretty thorough history and if you, like me, believe the best way to understand a place is to know its history, then this is the book. And Tim, want to hear the best part? At no point does this book ever talk about shoes. Not once. The website I included is it’s page on Amazon and it’s only about $20 new.

  10. On the survey–I listen because you guys are funny in a very Midwestern way (I’m originally from Indiana), and your tips about stuff to see and bars to hang out in are amusing as hell.

The big question about the Barbary Coast closing is where Big Elvis is heading to after the place closes.

We’re mostly into the Downtown casinos, but used to go to the BC when on the Strip for the fairly decent video poker and the beer and hot dog special.

  11. Haven’t had a chance to listen to this weeks show yet as I’m not in England, but in St Louis MO.

St Louis isn’t Vegas but visited the Ameristar casino last night and it’s huge, didn’t win but it had a good night (although the casino is smokey and you pay for all alcohol !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

  12. The Stardust is selling a (commemorative-?) book on the history of The Stardust in the hotel lobby. It is being advertised on one side of their famous 3 sided spinning sign, which is located near the sports book entrance. The price is $39.95. They are touting it in a way that gives the impression that it is a previously unpublished book (and perhaps unavailable elsewhere); but I have not yet determined that that is definitely the case.

  13. Chevy Chase is guest starring on Law & Order in two weeks playing ‘Mel Gibson’ in a ‘ripped from the headlines’ episode about a drunk celebrity shooting off his mouth.

I thought he had retired. I guess there is hope for a Vegas Vacation 2! Somebody wake up Wayne Newton and find Christie Brinkley so they can start filming.
